Spirit Answers to Visitors' Questions during September and October 2005
This page will be revised bi-monthly.
The following are Hai's and other spirits' responses to miscellaneous questions recently posed by visitors to this web site or by personal visitors to our home. If you would like to ask a general question please complete the Question Form or post it in one of the Web Board's forums. Please do not use this form for personal questions relating to your own specific circumstances/issues. It is ok to use the form for questions which would be equally relevant to other people. If you have a question of a more personal nature please see the Consultations Page. Alternatively, you can post your question on the Web Board.
Human Cloning and the Growing of Body Parts
We find that people visiting the group often bring up this topical subject and we have given it some coverage on earlier pages. The starting point for the present discussion was whether a human clone would have a soul.
Q: Would a human clone have a soul?
Hai: Yes. There is no problem with this for the same process goes on within the human womb. The physical life is grown, the spiritual life grows, attaches to it, becomes one with it, so there is no big difference with this. If you have a nice new pair of shoes, which were just the right fit for you, would you not put them on? So it is with the human body; if it is a good fit and will serve the purpose, then some soul would be glad of it.
Q: Would that be the case even if the human has been created to use for human parts?
Hai: How do you mean?
Q: I've got the impression that the scientists want to create a complete human being and then use it for spare parts and I thought that would be murder.
Hai: Yes. Your scientists must remember that this is not a case of producing life from nothing. They do not produce life from nothing; they must have a starting point. They are using a starting point. Therefore they are merely facilitating a process of development and they cannot think that they can do what they like with this process of development and what arises from it. For they are merely facilitating something, they are not creating life from nothing.
Q: So when some people accuse scientists of ' playing at God' by doing this, are they right?
Hai: We can see many problems and issues with this way of proceeding and we have spoken before of this because such a way of proceeding, even if it is or can be justified in some way, yet brings in its wake many ethical problems, many emotional problems; problems of feeling, meaning, understanding. And who among you is qualified and experienced to deal with these problems? We, in the spirit world, would be hard pressed to find someone to deal with these problems.
Q: I suppose the people working with them would grow to love them and vice versa?
Hai: This is not the main problem, no; the main problem is through the life you are facilitating, generating, and the confusion and turmoil that you may create within this soul. The soul will take upon this life form for its own ends and may learn from the experience. But yet you must know that some souls are eager for human life, and therefore they will be drawn to all kinds of opportunities without necessarily having the spiritual equipment to see them through.
Q: I understand what you are saying about the whole body situation but what if they just grow body parts, will it cause the same kind of issues?
Hai: No, this is not the same issue, yet there are issues about how you go about generating specific organs. You may find a way in the future to generate specific organs without creating the arising of complications but you must do your research in a responsible way, an ethical way. You must be careful not to create unnecessary complications.
Q: If we do eventually come to live longer lives because of the ability to replace organs do you think this might be a bad thing for the human race? Each generation has new ideas but if we lived, say three times longer than usual, would we still progress at the same rate?
Hai: Yes this can be a problem. People generally are not flexible, adaptable, are not responsive to the need for change either within themselves or without. This can be a problem especially if people become fixed in their ways to the point that they then prevent change as they age, but yet it is possible for people to adapt to change, to be flexible even into old age. But what you say is true in that the allotted time span is given to your bodies. There may be variation in this as there is variation in all things, but there is a natural process at work here and therefore part of this natural process is for the human body to age and die and for the spirit soul to move on. It is a natural process just like a caterpillar goes into chrysalis form and the butterfly flies out from the chrysalis. So you fly out from your physical shell.
Q: Do we need to go through old age to experience the restrictions that an older body brings?
Hai: Yes. You have greater resilience to cope with difficulties when you are old because of your experience and the life of your mind. We all have to go through the seasons of life. As the mighty forest goes through the seasons of the year we must go through the seasons of life.
Stephanie from Stoke on Trent in the UK asked for Hai's thoughts on love
Unfortunately we had some technical problems with the recording and some of what Hai had said was lost. We have transcribed here as much as we could retrieve.
Hai: We are all love of course; this is true, this is inherent in our nature, to love. Sometimes this love is, how shall we say, constrained, and distorted by the world in which we live. Sometimes by ourselves, by our own longings, our own needs, our own motivations, and this prevents us from showing to the full the full measure of our love to others.
This word - love - this is difficult to talk about. Yes? Yet we know when we feel love. I could say to you - this would show love or that would show love - and yet we are not capturing the essence of love; we are capturing its manifestations, its representations. Yet we would say to you that when we love it puts not ourselves first; it is concerned with those others, the needs of others, and the need of others. It is concerned in this way, not with our own needs as the paramount concern. And it is unhesitating to its response to those in need. Like the water flowing down the mountain stream, it cannot help itself, it responds to those in need. It is like the mother lion looking after her cubs. It will go to any measure, any extreme to protect its young. And so it is with love. It is spontaneous, automatic, and natural.
Regular Question Nights are held at our home in Stockport, England. If
you live within travelling distance why not come along and meet Hai and his
spirit friends. Ask about life in the spirit world and get their perspective
on issues of interest or concern. Question Nights are currently held one evening a month
8.00pm to 10.00pm, cost £3.00, including light refreshments.
If you cannot visit in person you can still pose a question either by completing the General Question Form or by posting your question in one of the Web Board's forums. Please note that questions of a personal nature should be submitted using the Postal Consultation Form which can be accessed via the Consultations Page.
